First Look at the Beautifully Disney Pop of Minnie Collection at Disney Parks

Posted: 17 Jan 2014 03:00 PM PST

A homage to Mickey Mouse's leading lady, the fifth collection from Beautifully Disney arrives at Disney Parks on February 8 and features our style icon Minnie Mouse. Channeling the vibrancy and mix of patterns of 1960's Mod pop art, this line is all about adding color to classic looks that can change your appearance in an instant depending on your mood. Every detail of this collection, down to the pop art inspired packaging, puts a fun twist on a quintessential look. So whether you decide to channel Minnie's flirty girly side, the glam fashionista or just want to show some serious sass, we have you covered. Let's take a look!

Pop of Minnie brings splashes of color to the current line of Beautifully Disney products including eye shadow, nail polish and lip gloss that you've come to know and love. The eye palette features six new shades Downtown Mouse, A la Mode, Polka, I'm Seeing Dots, Oh My Bow! and Fa-Bow-Lous with which you can create countless looks.

You will also find four brand new nail colors available both individually and in a mini nail polish set. I had some fun with these new colors, and so did my colleague and friend Rachel Brent, as you are about to see.

Pop of Minnie also introduces four new lip gloss shades that provide sheer coverage and are definitely colorful, wearable, lightweight and moisturizing. Here's a closer look!

For the first time, the collection will also offer a four piece set of mini lipsticks that are creamy, pigmented and pair perfectly with any lip gloss – the colors look great on all skin tones!

You can also look for brand new accessories to launch with the line – including an eyelash curler and brush set. There is also my personal favorite—the emery boards, a perfectly stylish way to keep your manicure in top shape. And to store all your accessories, be sure to check out the marvelously Minnie-inspired polka dot cosmetic bag.

Another really exciting addition to the Beautifully Disney collection debuting this Spring are character and non-character nail appliqués. These long wearing appliqués are available in three different design sets. So keep an eye out for them!

Every Day Is Popcorn Day at Walt Disney World Resort

Posted: 17 Jan 2014 01:00 PM PST

This January 19 is National Popcorn Day, a perfect reason to "pop" by one of the Walt Disney World popcorn wagons for a box of old-fashioned, fluffy deliciousness. The epitome of easy street food, we like to pick up a box in front of City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A, and nosh as we stroll through the park. This all-American snack has been part of Disney since Disneyland Resort opened in 1955.

ppc583991

An astonishing 5.2 million boxes are sold every year at Walt Disney World Resort – that's up about a half-a-million boxes from the year prior. In all, park-goers consume about 845,000 pounds of exploding kernels of corn with a splash of buttery flavor and a dash of salt. Vegan and gluten free, it's pretty simple stuff, popped in a combo of coconut, corn and canola oil. We can always find a good reason to buy a warm box when we smell it popping – especially when it's National Popcorn Day!

The ride you will experience along Arenal National Park holds gorgeous emerald woods and scenic greenery. Once at the top, it's time to strap on a harness and soar across the sky to enjoy a treetop view of the rainforest and the Arenal Volcano.

Favorite Breakfast Finds at the Disneyland Resort

When we're up and at 'em in the theme parks at the Disneyland Resort, a hearty breakfast is a great way to start the day – maybe a little brioche French toast or biscuits and gravy with that first cup of coffee.

Carnation-Frittata

In Disneyland park, we often start with the spinach and tomato egg white frittata at Carnation Café on Main Street, U.S.A. With a side of crisp potatoes and fresh fruit ($10.99 plus tax), we're ready to face the Matterhorn Bobsleds (or maybe just relax on "it's a small world").

Cinnamon French Toast At River Belle Terrace In Disneyland Park Biscuits And Gravy At River Belle Terrace In Disneyland Park

Just around the corner, River Belle Terrace is another favorite morning stop – their cinnamon roll French toast drizzled with cream cheese frosting and served with scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage is a vacation indulgence ($8.99 plus tax). The country-style biscuits and gravy is served with eggs and sausage ($7.99).

We have heard raves about the breakfast burrito at Tomorrowland Terrace – scrambled eggs, chorizo, potatoes, queso fresco, black beans, tomatillo sauce, and fresh pico de gallo all wrapped in a wheat tortilla ($7.49).

Muesli

At Disney California Adventure park, Ariel's Grotto is the only spot where we try to be a little healthy – but that's because the bircher muesli is such a treat, made with rolled oat, yogurt, granola and fresh fruit and included on the family-style breakfast menu.

Fruit Plate At Flo’s V8 Café In Cars Land Tamale Breakfast At Flo’s V8 Café In Cars Land

Or it's off to Flo's V8 Café in Cars Land for delectable favorites such as brioche French toast smothered with salted caramel sauce and topped with fresh bananas ($7.99 plus tax). At the other end of the calorie spectrum is Flo's seasonal fruit plate with juicy cantaloupe, honeydew, red grapes, strawberry and low-fat yogurt with an oat bran muffin ($5.49). If you love savory, try the hearty chicken tamales with fluffy scrambled eggs, verde sauce and fresh pico de gallo ($8.49). And some mornings just call for the old-fashioned all-American breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, roasted potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit ($8.49). If the kids are along, they insist on Flo's buckwheat waffles with bacon and fresh fruit ($6.49).

Ah, for us, a zesty breakfast tamale or gooey French toast are just as much a part of the theme park experience as any thrill ride. Do you have a favorite (edible) way to start your day at the Disneyland Resort?

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival Returns March 5-May 18

This year's Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival will return to the park March 5, with new Muppet-themed topiaries, Outdoor Kitchens, and first-time acts in the Flower Power Concert Series.

FAU084754

This year's topiaries will feature Goofy, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck celebrating spring with a butterfly hunt at the park's main entrance, while Kermit and Miss Piggy will appear in World Showcase.

Outdoor Kitchens, which debuted at the festival last year, will return to showcase a slew of new "sweet & savory" and "spring-inspired" menu items.

Earlier this week, Disney Parks Blog author Charles Stovall gave you a look at new HGTV & DIY Network stars who will appear at the festival – but they aren't the only new entertainers. Two new acts are also on the schedule for this year's Flower Power Concert Series: Gary Lewis and the Playboys ("This Diamond Ring") and The Alan Parsons Live Project ("Eye in the Sky").

Many festival favorites are also returning this year, with daily gardening seminars taking place at the Festival Center, and Tinker Bell's Butterfly House will again be all a flutter with color.

For more information about the 21st Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, call 407/W-DISNEY (934-7639). The festival, including all gardening programs and exhibits, is included in regular Epcot admission.

A Mom's Take: Wilderness and Wildlife Adventures in Alaska with Disney Cruise Line

Posted: 17 Jan 2014 04:57 AM PST

Alaska is surely one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. There is nothing quite like seeing the breathtaking, untouched terrain where the mountains and glaciers meet the sea. What makes it even more special are the vast opportunities to spot wildlife, everything from birds and seals, to bears and whales.

In the next video of our "Mom's Take" video series, Nancy from the Disney Parks Moms Panel shows you some of the wilderness and wildlife you'll experience on a Disney cruise to Alaska. Of course, no photos and videos will ever compare to seeing it in person, but I hope it will whet your appetite for joining us to experience it yourself this summer!

Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog and Disney Cruise Line Facebook page, and follow @DisneyCruise on Twitter for more about Disney Cruise Line's voyages in Alaska. While you're on Twitter, join in the conversation by using the hashtag #DCLAlaska.
